All about Barbados
Barbados is the most eastern island of the caribbean, right inbetween the caribbean sea and the atlantic.A bit more detailed its 59° western length and 13° northern width. Trinidad is about 320 km farther towards south-west. Other islands close by are St.Vincent (153 km away), Grenada, St.Lucia und Martinique.
Agricultural use: 76% agriculture, 9% fields, others 14 % (1994), the length of the coast is 97 km.
There are three mountains, Mount Hillaby 340 m, Gun Hill 210 m and Chalky Mount 167 m. The capital is
Bridgetown, where most people are living, without suburbs there are 9000 people (with suburbs included,
there are 106.000 people living there, thats 37% of all citizens).
On the atlantic side, on the northern and eastern coast, you will find rough seas and big waves, but in the south the sea is calmer and it can reach a flat quite stage on the west coast.
